Preventive care
Routine dental care is carried out to the highest possible standards, using the best materials and taking the time needed to carry out your care properly.
Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment necessary to maintain a healthy mouth. Our aim is to work with you to prevent the need for treatment, and so avoid the traditional pattern of fillings and extractions.
It is likely that a course of treatment will be recommended to get your mouth into excellent condition, and a plan worked out to help you keep it that way.
Our specially trained dental hygienist will work with the dentist to ensure the best dental health advice is given and will teach you the tools and techniques to look after your teeth and gums in between visits.
Regular professional cleaning combined with your home care will help keep your mouth healthy. A clean and healthy mouth will improve your appearance, help you to keep your teeth and give you fresh breath.
Children can benefit from having their teeth polished. The hygienist can also apply fluoride gels and solutions to help prevent tooth decay.
Tooth whitening
Over time, teeth naturally darken and discolour but staining is made worse by such things as smoking, red wine, tea and coffee. Our safe, simple and effective treatment is an ideal way to create a natural, radiant smile and a more youthful appearance to boost your self-esteem.
We use Novon, a whitening compound that delivers improved whitening results over less treatment time.

New smiles
Knowing that teeth play such an important role in the appearance of your smile, we offer a variety of resources to help create a lasting smile.
Modern advances in dental materials are making it easier than ever before to achieve the perfect natural-looking smile in accordance with your wishes. Tooth-coloured fillings can be used to replace traditional metal-coloured fillings comfortably and reliably, gaps can be filled with bridges and chipped or cracked teeth can be replaced with crowns.
Most people have fillings of one sort or another in their mouths. Nowadays, fillings are not only functional, but can be natural-looking as well. Many people don't want silver fillings that show when they laugh or smile because they are more conscious of the way they look.
Unsightly metal fillings can now be replaced by natural-coloured fillings to improve the look of your smile. White fillings have always been considered less long lasting than silver amalgam fillings, but there are now new materials available with properties comparable to silver amalgam. These are proven to be very successful. Nicola can advise you on the life expectancy of your fillings.
Anti-snoring appliances
Snoring is now recognised as a serious health problem. Snorers and their partners do not often talk about their snoring problem or ask for snoring help, but at Castle Way Dental, help is at hand.
Castle Way Dental is part of a national network of trained dentists offering a comprehensive diagnosis and snoring treatment service who exclusively offer Sleepwell™, one of the most clinically proven appliances for snoring and mild or moderate sleep apnoea. Sleepwell™ is a light-weight mouthpiece, which is custom-made for each patient to wear at night.
Custom impressions, bite registration, and monitoring delivered by our trained clinicians.
We provide bedtime routines, cleaning tips, and review appointments to keep results on track.
Metal-free crowns and bridges
For the ultimate in aesthetics, restorations can be produced in materials such as zirconia, lithium disilicate and alumina oxide. Restorations include large-span bridges, adhesive Maryland type bridges and even inlay retained bridges and simple slide attachments.
These materials display ideal properties for use in the oral cavity. The natural light transmission and opalescence allows a perfect harmony between strength and beauty.
We work closely with trusted labs to match translucency and strength to adjacent teeth.
From inlay-retained bridges to Maryland designs, we map all replacement options in one visit.

Little teeth
We want children to love coming to the dentist and to have healthy teeth and gums as they move into adulthood and the best time to start this is when they are young.
Your child's oral health is extremely important for them, and we can work with you to keep their teeth and gums healthy and strong, as well as teaching them how to look after their teeth for life.
To ensure that good oral health starts early, we provide NHS care for children up to the age of 18.
Hints and tips to keep your child's teeth healthy:
Cleaning your child's teeth:
Stand or sit behind your child, cradling their chin in your hand so you can reach their top and bottom teeth more easily. When the first teeth start to come through, use a children's toothbrush with a small smear of toothpaste. It is important to supervise your child's brushing until they are at least seven.
Once all the teeth have come through, use a small-headed soft toothbrush in small circular movements, and try to concentrate on one section at a time. Do not forget to brush gently behind the teeth and onto the gums. If possible, make tooth brushing a routine – preferably in the morning and last thing before your child goes to bed. Remember to encourage your child, as praise will often get results.

NHS treatment
In England and Wales the fees for NHS examinations and treatments are subsidised by the NHS, with patients covering the balance. These prices are fixed and sit within bands.
NHS dental care is free of charge for children under the age of 18, and for those under 19 and in full-time education. Dental care is also free on the NHS if you qualify for it under the NHS exempt criteria; for example, pregnant women qualify for free NHS dental care.
For more information on who is entitled to free NHS dental treatment, visit the NHS website. Also visit NHS Choices for more information.
